Re: Negro Baseball - Texas
In Response To: Re: Negro Baseball - Texas ()
Maggie, In Frazier Robinson's book, he began his career in Okmulgee, Oklahoma (just like Cassaundra Haygood's dad, whom I helped her learn more about) http://www.pitchblackbaseball.com/nlotmwilliamhaygood.html Robinson played in the Texas-Oklahoma-Lousiana League in the 1930's. He said teams included the Abilene Eagles (for whom he played), Tulsa Oliers, Waco Cardinals, San Angelo Sheephearders, San Antonio Black Indians and teams in Odessa, Dallas, and Fort Worth. I would see which of these cities is closest to Paris. Robinson also saw action with the Tulsa Blackballers and the Mineola Black Spiders, but he did not say those were league teams. Hope this helps.
