Re: North Carolina Birth Records at Ancestry
In Response To: North Carolina Birth Records at Ancestry ()
Thanks for the heads up. I have been on vacation for the last couple of weeks and vowed not to do any research. It was hard, but I only checked my messages. This addition is a great find for me. My uncle passed away last March 2004 and we didn't know what his birth surname was but only knew him under his stepfather's name. I had narrowed down my search to who I "thought" may be his father a few months ago and low and behold, the birth record search for NC has him! It confirms who his mom is (which is my grandmother) and who his dad is. He was born April 2, 1934. His birth certificate could not be located when he applied for Social Security because they were searching in the wrong state, SC. He was born in Marietta County, NC. He thought his birth date was March 10, 1932. I am sending off for a copy of the brith certificate today! My aunt (his wife) will be pleased. I can't wait to call and tell her I found it.
