Hello Bill, Hi neighbor.....I'm located in Springfield, Ohio and get to Columbus frequently for research and visiting cousins. Perhaps we can "do lunch" sometime Let's try this one for your "elusive" George Martin in the 1880 Census. He seems to "fit"....11-12 y/o in 1880, still found in Rutland Twp., Meigs Co., OH, born in Ohio with parents born in VA/WV. Interesting that at 11 y/o he was listed as a "boatman". That also adds to your suspicion that he was located near a "river town". Rutland is near Pomeroy which is right on the Ohio River.
