Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I'm glad I could inspire people. I do plan to write a book and make a movie based on my family history. Thats why I'm in film school right know. But this is only part of my family story. These are only my grandfather's ancestors. My grandmother's ancestors can be traced by to 18th century New Orleans and Alabama when it was a French territory. I am descended from Marquerita, a fugitive slave who was later given her freedom by her former owner and the Louisiana court in 1787.

I guess it just comes down to really digging, digging, and never leaving any stones unturned. I've had a little of luck too because there were books that mentioned my relatives and also other researchers have helped me out, including family members near and distant.
