Re: Community Research Guides
In Response To: Community Research Guides ()

Pearl Alice,

The website that has been created on this community is very impressive. Great job.

Like Art Thomas, I do not believe I have come across any community research guides. I have been researching a coal mining community in Texas for nearly 10 years and I have included a list of resources I found to be important in helping me create a pretty detailed history of the community.

I want to suggest that you put considerable effort into using black newspapers in your work. The black newspaper collection of Proquest and those of Genealogybank will prove very useful. The community/social columns coming out of the cities closest to Maxville (Walla Walla, Boise, etc) will likely include some families, as will those columns coming from the places where your families came from, and possibly later on migrated to.
