I don't have any great suggestions on the writing process. My writings will only be viewed by my family members.

My father's sister was a great story teller. She told vivid stories about their growing up during the Great Depression. What I am doing is writing down the stories my aunt and other family members have told. Whenever I remember a story, I jot down the basic facts and go back later to write a detailed, improvised account.

I attended a cousin's funeral this weekend. I saw small children peering at the casket and my mind went back to the very first funeral I attended. I am writing thoses memories down.
