AfriGeneas Writers Forum
Through My AfriGeneas Eyes
Its so funny how times have changed the way I viewed Afrigeneas. What drew me here in the first place was my interest in searching for someone in my daughters family, who seemed like they had disappeared from the face of the earth. I latched on to the Surname Forum and decided to post. I had hopes of finding that particular family. I was advised on how to post so that volunteers could help me without them giving information that I already had. I have not found out as much as I would like to about them but with folks help I found out more than I had.
I then ventured into the Main Forum as it was called back in the day. Now it is the Genealogy and History Forum. I could not wait to get online to visit those two forums for years. Back and forth I went, Surname to Main, Main to Surname.
Litle did I know was that this site has a rich history on all the forums. I missed so much all those years by not taking advantage of the Forum drop down menu and cruising through the whole gamut.
The Records drop down menu is chock full of information also. I really love the Precious Photo's because of the wonderful pictures showing the ancestors of so many of our families. There is much to be said by the look etched on their faces, and the strength that they had to have in those long ago times.
And thanks be to the Chat Room. I have learned so much by coming in and listening to others that have the ability to help point folks in the right direction. We also learn from each other and countless friendships have been forged. I would hope that I have helped someone along the way also.
I guess my point is, take full advantage of what AfriGeneas has to offer. Who knows what you may find that will help your research. In turn, give back! Spread the word about us. You may be able to help others break down a brick wall by sharing and posting records.
