Re: IDA A SWORD AMONG LIONS
In Response To: Re: When and Where I Enter ()
Hi Spivey: I attended the symposium in NYC where I met Ms. Giddings. I've been to Albany, but it was for business. As for Ms. Giddings' book, I just re-read my previous posting. I meant to highlight her monumental work on Ida B. Wells. The title and subheading are just as compelling "Ida: A Sword Among Lions...Ida B. Wells and the Campaign Against Lynching." As I read Giddings' biography on Wells, I realized how important her contributions were to black progress and survival (in other words lynching). I must confess that as I read her biography, I became more and more annoyed. Not by Well’s life, but by the “Giants of black history” inevitably male, who’ve overshadowed and deliberately tried to marginalize women like Ida B. Wells. I do hope that you and the AfriGeneas family will buy Paula Giddings’ "Ida: A Sword Among Lions...Ida B. Wells and the Campaign Against Lynching." Write Away
