Re: YOU HAVE TO READ IN ORDER TO WRITE
In Response To: YOU HAVE TO READ IN ORDER TO WRITE ()
Thank you for this excellent discourse on this topic which is so vital to writing our histories. On the most basic level, acclaimed writers have stressed that writers must be readers; even more so family historians and genealogists must read in order to learn of their ancestors.
Even though it has been difficult obtaining information about my maternal lines in southern Arkansas, by reading the regional histories, studying the industry, the historical/social/political climate, reading biographies and writings from the local genealogical and historical societies been much useful. Finding biographies on the last slave owners helped me establish migration patterns for my great great grandparents.
Thank you again, for sharing the link and again your acute knowledge and insight to the Afrigeneas family to help us become better family history writers.
