Dena you may want to consider starting with the family member you are most enthralled with and try and write the world from her point of view.
I have a long running journal about my maternal great grandmother. I have not been able to document her name or her existence in the 30 plus years I have searched. I am fascinated with the life and the times I imagined she lived. I know that she was born about 1819 in North Carolina Cherokee County area. My grandfather (her son) was born in 1843. They traveled to Alabama via Hall County GA in about 1846. I know that they were with the family of BELL who actually traveled by foot as "Coalers" along the river banks and then taking the high ground along the Federal Highway at various times. I can see the shawdow of her face but the face does not come into focus. I am determined that the focus will come... I call her "Slavia"... the mother of Richard.. she is helping me write an accounting of my family through her eyes.
