Hey Sonya!
Congratulations on being at a point where you feel ready to write. As the ole guitar player said" nuthin' to it but to do it".

So you are in Gadsden County? What State is that in what town or village?

Imagine your self standing at the post office in the town of your ancestors. It is 1870 annd you are wonering how they came to this place and from where.

Describe the surroundings.
What are the population demographics?
What is the primary industry/occupation?
What churches are there?
Who is the post master?
When was the building constructed?
Is it as old as the town?
How many postmasters have been appointed to serve this community?
Are they among the 'established' names in the community?
Were any of them slaveholders?
Who were the slave holding families? Are any of those connected to your ancestors?
What are some of the major events going on in the town at the period you havr drifted to?

Write down whatever comes to mind and you are on your way... there is no right or wrong way. Just write... it is YOUR story.

Share your written words with us here. I am sure your words and your efforts will inspire the rest of us to get busy, follow your lead and be on our way to telling our story as you tell yours!

A million best wishes.
