Re: My Ancestors View Of Election 08 ?
In Response To: Re: My Ancestors View Of Election 08 ? ()
First I glance at the picture of my grandmother as she sits in a chair, and I believe that the picture may have been taken circa early 1900s because of the type of dress she is wearing. She finds out that a young man, an African American, a person of color like herself is now running for the most important job in the country, the President of the USA. She sits and looks at me and say..."I am not surprised". How does that grab you when all of us today say things like "I would have never guessed in all of my life that a Black man would actually get this far to run for President of the USA? Imagine the Presidents that my grandma went through from the year she was born in 1866 to the year she died in 1942, From Andrew Johnson to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. My mom once told me back in the 1960s when JFK became President, and she said to me "What if a colored man ran for President of USA". I looked at her and said "What if..." and I left it like that. She was serious. I was not....not until Shirley Chisley, Jesse Jackson, and a few other Blacks were bringing it up...RUN FOR PRESIDENT....My mom died in 1971. Peace and Blessings to Our Ancestors....They probably knew before we did.
