In Response To: My Ancestors View Of Election 08 ?
() What would my ancestors say? In a word.....HALLELUJAH!!!!! My Adams ancestors in particular. The Link below is to an article where E.W. Adams (1853-1885).....Emory Wendall Adams....the son and grandson of David (1825-1913) and Lewis Adams (1785-1864), documented UGRR conductors, in Champaign and Hancock counties in Ohio had organized a gathering of 10,000 "colored citizens" of Ohio and Inidiana to celebrate the 17th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation in Findlay, Ohio. The organizers had invitated Gen. U.S. Grant and Sen. James Conkling who responded that they would be unable to attend, but sent the letters below. I'm sure ALL of my ancestors, those freed following the Civil War and those who happened to be free prior to the Civil War are already celebrating the fact that Sen. Obama has come this far. I can't even imagine their joy and jubilation should Sen. Obama become the next President of the United States. Art Thomas Messages In This Thread |
