Re: a lynching in Roane County 1863

Hi Alison:

Sounds like an interesting story, your book will include some facts and fiction, which is similiar to Cane River.

Ms.Tademy included fiction in her story, of course to make it colorful and interesting.

I am also, trying my pen at writing a book, "The Jewels in My Genes". It is my family story and I too, have to include a chapter on the death of my great, grandmother murdred in Alabama.

I didn't have all the details, but because it was a murder, this is what I researched: I checked all of the Sheriff Records in the county where the murder occurred, checked who was the Judge during that year, checked the newspapers, and asked tons of questions around town.

I indeed, acted as a sleuth. I was blessed with the information I needed, the date, year, the plantation it occurred on, etc.

Good luck in your search!

Gwen
