Don't know if this will help, but following the abolishment of slavery in Canada (Simcoe Act) and before the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 some newly freed blacks migrated back into the U.S. as did some slave owning whites, with their slaves.

Mingo, although you say is Cherokee that is also the name of tribe that was in Ohio/Canada and they were "kin" to the Shawnee located in this area during the early to mid 1800's.

AND as a long shot, there was a Rachel among the La Force Slaves who was kept by the Shawnee and I have no information as to what might of happened to her. The time frame for the two Rachel's doesnt match, but we know how names are passed on through families.
