Art, Great work! Thank you for sharing. Can you help me out with this brick wall? In July, while in Brookhaven, Mississippi for the Adams Family Reunion, I visited by Aunt Gertrude, age 93, at her home. Aunt Gertrude told me, in summary, the following: that Rachel, her grandmother and my great grandmother, was brought to Mississippi from Canada by a man named John Newel (her spelling). that Mingo Adams, her grandfather and my great grandfather is a full blood Cherokee that had been living on Indian land. I found Mingo and Rachel is several censuses through earlier research. Linda Durr Rudd sent me a copy of a Freedmen's Labor Contract in which Mingo and Rachel agreed to work on a plantation in Copiah Co. in 1866. Cynthia Crump, a great great grandaughter of Mingo and Rachel sent me a picture of Rachel. Rachel was born about 1841-1843. Mingo was born about 1833. Mingo Adams is the only name I have for him. Ed Adams
