Uncle B. Smith knew what he was doing. He understood the power and magic of the photograph.
He also heard the calling of his Ancestors. They were instructing him to tell us, the Descendents.
Uncle B gave us all the clues he could, given his circumstance.
Most photos of that era typically are done in portrait style; sit still, composed, stoic even, and look straight at the camera. However, Uncle B is animated! He's pointing to something; a nearby object, a far-away place, a concept, an Ancestor?
As you say, we've been charged to tell his story.
Man, the Ancestors don't let up! We got work to do, family.
