I found the University of Alabama's Public Radio and Television presentation " Moments of Dignity", which I'm pleased to share with you.
Writers create words that can conjure up powerful images. Photographers create images that can conjure up emotional expressions. Polk used his camera as his pen.
P.H. Polk was the official photographer for Tuskegee Institute. His images captured the essence of African Americans throughout the South. A voice on the video says that Polk presented a viewpoint of black Americans that "...Outsiders just don't see."
