Re: Memoirs of the House Family Reunion of North Carolina
In Response To: Memoirs of the House Family Reunion of North Carolina ()
Joseph, In the spirit of constructive comments and criticism, as what I always ask for in my posts, I offer these thoughts. When I have the urge to write, I get that first draft down as quickly as I can. Then if it's compelling I'll go through the actual structuring, editing, rewriting and refining. I always keep that first draft handy as that's where the spark's at and I don't want to lose that during the refining phase. When I feel it's ready for public consumption, I post it.
First, we are visually presented with a big block of text. A good idea would be to break it up into paragraphs to make it easier to read (my 55 year-old eyes were struggling!). I thought by your title that you were going to tell stories surrounding that particular reunion in 1975. I love stories, so you hooked me right away.
I get the feeling that you miss the reunions and you're trying to draw your folks into a conversation that may rekindle an interest.
If you are really serious about writing, memoirs, family histories and all things publishable, I would recommend taking some writing courses at a community college or learning extension facility.
Peace,
