Re: Copyright Question
In Response To: Re: Copyright Question ()

Hi! Did you see the link that 'Write Away' posted? It had some great information on it, number 10 was really interesting.

Anyway, the reason I was asking is because I do a lot of family research in Arkansas. In the Fall of 2000, the AGS (Arkansas Genelogical Society) had a seminar, and a member of AGS sent me the program book. There is an article in it called 'A Strategy for that difficult Ancestor' by Desmond Walls Allen, who is the owner of Arkansas Research, a past president and life member of the AGS, co-founder of Professional Genealogist of Arkansas, author and compiler of 163 books and many articles about Arkansas historical materials. She has held numberous workshops and lectured at NGS and FGS national conferences.
And of course, the 'Strategy for That Difficult Ancestor' has copywrites that states, *reprodece this for a friend but not for commercial purposes.*
I think every researcher should see this problem solving worksheet, and I wanted to post it here to Afrigeneas, but, before I do, I thought it best to get her permission first, so, I emailed her this morning, if I get a response, I will post it to Afrigeneas, if not, I will send the worksheet to anyone privately.
Copyright has so many yes you can, no you can't, try it if you think, and ask youself why before you do it, that it's really hard to know.
Oh, I did find out through the link that if someone sends you a copyright article through the email, that you can email it to someone else, but my question is...If you get caught by the copywriter, how can you prove it was emailed to you? I guess you would just have to print and save!
