Anthology Seeks Work about Southern U.S.

Story Guidelines: AntLion Press

1.Stories must be set in the Southern United States or recall a time
spent there. (Qualifying Southern states include: Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida,Texas, and Arkansas. We might be able to be talked into Oklahoma, Missouri,Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.)

2. Stories must be original, unpublished non-fiction and from 1000 to
2000 words in length. The story can be in narrative essay form or be creative non-fiction and can be humorous or dramatic. All submissions must be a story with a beginning, middle and end (no fiction, no poetry, no sermons, no letters and so forth). We are looking for stories that move the reader emotionally and that are creatively written and exceptionally well-told.

3. Previously unpublished authors are welcome to submit their work.

4. Stories must be positive and uplifting in tone and can be
heartwarming, poignant and/or humorous or just down right funny.

5. Stories must reflect the best of what the South is all about, a place where good people still know how to extend kindness and courtesy to strangers,a place where the Southern landscape is still alive in the mind's eye, where little things...things of the heart, still matter. And of course, a place where good food is still to be found.

6. Our stories are intended for a mainstream adult audience. We do not
accept any form of distasteful or off-color writing. No racial slurs or insults to any person will be tolerated. Please avoid political or controversial issues.

7. You may submit multiple stories for consideration.

8.Stories must be your original work and must not have been published
elsewhere (even on the internet). Stories must be true, positive in overall tone and must be written in English.

9. No entry or reading fees are required of authors.

10. We regret that we cannot offer payment for your story. We do however, offer you a chance to become a published author by having your story accepted for inclusion in this collection.

11. Submission of a story does not guarantee publication. If your story is chosen for this book or for a future edition, you will be notified by mail and we will request your permission to print it. If your story is not chosen, you will NOT be notified, as we may consider it for a future edition.
