Sheila Bender's Writing It Real, an online magazine for those who write from
personal experience, announces an essay contest:

Prizes

1st prize: $150 dollars plus 1 license for LifeJournal for Writers software.
2nd prize: $75 dollars plus 1 license for LifeJournal for Writers software.
3rd prize: $50 dollars plus 1 license for LifeJournal for Writers software.

10 Honorable Mentions will receive a detailed written response from Sheila
Bender.

The top 3 essays will be published in Writing It Real (with permission of
the author).

Submission Guidelines

Contest Deadline: December 30, 2006
Reading period: September 30-December 30, 2006

We are seeking creative non-fiction essays based on personal experience.
Essays must be previously unpublished and can be up to ten pages in length,
double-spaced.

Submission Package (for paper submissions): The submitted essay should be
accompanied by a cover sheet that contains the author's name, title of the
essay, phone number, address and email. Submissions will not be returned.

$15 Reading Fee: Each entry must contain a check for US$15. Checks should be
made payable to: "Writing It Real". The reading fee entitles the entrant to
a six-month subscription of Writing It Real magazine, starting when payment
is received. You will receive login details via email. Current Writing It
Real subscribers will receive a six-month subscription extension.

International (as well as U.S.) entrants may pay their reading fee
electronically through PayPal or Ikobo. Send payments to
(replace (at) with @).
On the cover sheet, please refer to date the
electronic payment was made and the electronic service used.
