Halle Calls Him: "Moyles R. Moment"
Below are several references to Halle Berry's reaction to UK's Chris Moyles imitation of a black man. "I'm a black American guy. A big, fat, black guy. Put your hands up in the air."
Why should we be surprised? The global profile for African American men is that of a violent thug who basks in his degradation of black women.
Equally appalling is the HBO import of UK’s ali g...a brit who claims an "alliance" to Dr. Martin Luther King while raking in millions degrading our culture by dressing up, and acting up as an ignorant misogynist stereotypical black man.
After the 2006 Academy Awards gave the nod to glorify a minstrel group's lament of a predatory pimp could a "Moyles Moment" be far behind?
Was Ms. Berry's color a cue for Moyles to "get down" and try to talk like a black person? You bet!
We know that one all too well. Out of nowhere a white person goes into a Zen state of blackness. Their accent suddenly shifts from Yankee to Southern. Their speech is slurred with ain't, dropping g's, and ghetto slang. And if we don't respond in kind, then we aren't "real" Negroes that they can talk down to.
Moyles Racist Moment sniped at Ms. Berry after she left the studio, "Are we having a racist moment here?' Oh just get over yourself."
Moyles' comments weren't racist said an anonymous BBC flack.
My comment to "Moyles R Moment" and the BBC's empty denials is... "Chirren Please!"
Many thanks to Halle Berry for calling "Moyles Racist Moment" as she saw it. We need more voices like hers.
