Inseparable
Changing the course of our history
Changes the course of American history
Changes the course of world history
Changes the course of history
My history is your history
Our history is inseparable
Not unlike single fingers
tethered to a common hand
We are mingled
Stirred from one vastness
One air permeates our being
As a boulder rolls
As the earth settles
So too we move and slow
We sleep and wake
Dream night and day
Each moment as soon as spent
Becomes a part of the great our past
Each breath infinitesimally mingled;
Each drop of dew a composite.
We reach for that one glorious expression
Achieved by our composed action
That our living not be for naught
That our striving not be in vain
There are great overcomings
Going against the tide
Changing the flow of the river
Struggling sisyphean toward
Triumph
Some have felt the whole
Power of a nation well up
Within
Each of us is called
To our own greater expanse
Let each shining star
Be a sign unto us
All is not lost
We bask in reflected glory
And continue
