Re: Reflections on Hurricane Katrina
In Response To: Re: Reflections on Hurricane Katrina ()
Many of my relatives who lived in New Orleans lost their homes, jobs, and one elderly member is still missing. We are doing the best that we can to take of them. They do receive well needed help from various organizations and the federal government. We are indeed grateful. I just want to say that we clearly understand the roles of the New Orleans city, the Louisiana state, and federal governments. The feds are not first responders as most believe. We might be better off by being truthful and holding everybody, local, state, and federal folks accountable for their action and inaction. By the way, some of my relatives are thankful to God that they are alive. Some are saying that they now have another opportunity that they must take advantage of. Those that did not have health insurance are now seeing doctors. They are in fact better off in that respect. Perhaps we just did not like the source of the person who said that my relatives are better off even though some of them seem to think that they are. They also think that Mayor Nagin let them down and was out of his element.
