Thanks, your response on where to start has confirmed my dilemma of backward or forward. For research purposes the 'with yourself and go backwards' solidifies the lineal documentation. As you say, writing for family history lends itself from those early ancestors to yourself.

When one traces backward the family lines may 'double' for each generation. Just five generations, if all are documented, will give you
sixteen (16) ancestral lines to include in your history. In this case, I think you need to bring all of those lines into play to get to yourself.

Somebody wants to know the name of all those direct ancestors and their families.
