Hello(aquay] In response to your question the Ramapough have land deeds to the land that they live on. We do not live on a reservation such as the souix and other Indian tribes that are feredal. We do pay taxes just like everyone else. We are an Indian nation. We have our own by laws that are in our tribal community. Most Indian tribes that are federal are self govering and tax free.Did not the western and the plain indian also lived on squatter lands and claimed their rights on it? In the beginning when the Indians had this land we did not own the land we only borrow it and passed down to the next generation and we did not call it squatter rights it is when the non natives came along time ago that is when bonderies and land claims came into play.
