In my research I found that the idea of this mixed group of people being described as an Indian tribe only really started about the time the Indian casinos came on the scene.
Of course there is Indian blood in the group. That is a fact. There is also Dutch, Italian, German Hessian and black. True Americans.
The Jackson White name came about because someone believed or perhaps knew that a group of British and West Indian women took refuge with the people they found there in the Ramapoughs. They were escaping the NYC area after the British went off and left them to fend for themselves. They had been shanghaied off the streets of London and carried to New York to serve as comfort women to the British soldiers.
