Re: The Jackson Whites
In Response To: The Jackson Whites
() it is too bad that the researchers that wrote about the Jackson whites based their stories on legend. As usual legend always takes top stories then what is really the truth. the Ramapo indians come from acient Indian blood their first documentstion was listed in a map from 1625 in the New England area of ct. they had a village with 2,500 peoples they also had sechems and wonderful history. Its too bad that they got the title jackson white because they have always keep their acient indian name. In late 1700 they assimulated into the delaware nation after the last ramapo migrated into new york and new jersey. the other indian tribes that are mixed with them later assimulated into the same tribe. that why you have a lot of the new england indian surnames. I really feeel if you want to know about the Ramapo why not ask them your self and get the true story not a legend. thank you kathleen crippen
