I found this article (including an article "inside" this article) when googling for a smiliar topic.

I thought this was an intersting topic/article, I have been having conversations with one of my uncles about race, racial identify, and race issues faced by light-skin African Americans, and about his and his siblings difficult upbringing, where race was the issue and topic, not just in the family, but outside, and how his father made it difficult to deal with it outside of the family.
