Re: Tri-Racial Isolates
In Response To: Re: Tri-Racial Isolates ()

Thanks Vera:
for your fast response.
i know what you are saying is true. i just put up what was told to me by my fathers maternal cousin: (his mother is my grandmothers sister), who whould have been the soux ladies grandson, or grandson.
i didn't want to write a really long explanation about it but this is what he just told me a couple weeks ago.

i asked him who, lives in florida, after talking to my first cousin (paternal) who siad he had seen a picture of all of the brown-knight girls and parents and said they all looked native. unfortunately my cousin in florida had his home in pensacola destroyed in hurricane 2 years ago and we don't have the picture anymore.

well anyway i started my interview and asked him about my paternal gramdmothers family, as to which ones were of indian extract.
he replied that they all were indians,(much to my surprise).
i asked him to elaborate. thats when he said your grandmothers parents were cherokee, and souix. he went on to say that her father cherokee, went out to oklahoma in the trail to tears, didn't like it, met the souix mother and returned to tennessee.
he went on to say that the buford side was of mixed indian descent, but did not give a specific tribe.
next he told he about his fathers family who are from florida and are black seminole, and creek.

since i don't know for sure, just took down the information for further investigation.

there is another problem with the time period for going to oklahoma, that being it would have to be my grandmothers grandmother, and grandfather who did this.
i know oklahoma is still a long way from the plains but it is alot closer than tennessee.

i am going to try to get him to take a DNA test in the near future, but for now thats my family legend, and i don't have anybody to contradict it...

thanks again
