Articles like the one linked to the url below remind us that Africans of the Diaspora are NOT centered in the American experience. Most importantly, "Remembering Africans in the Nazi camps" adds to the growing and needed documentation of people of African descent who suffered under the cruelty of Nazi Germany.
The article published on AfricaSpeaks.com describes a symposium held at Howard University. The second article documents the history of the African presence in Germany that spans several centuries.
So many innocent people lost their lives during WW II. The Russians will always remember the 20 million who died, European Jews will always remember their 6 million dead, as will people whose families were gypsies, homosexuals, journalists, and resistance fighters. Africans of the Diaspora should never forget that the Holocaust in Europe included many of their own.
