Has anyone on this forum come across information about if there were German's of African decent who migrated to the U.S. in the late 1800s? I am trying to track down the story of my great-grandfather who had a German name, and whose parents came from Germany, but clearly from photos is of part-African heritage. Were there Afro-Germans in the country at that time in any abundance? I believe his family was from Thurlingen. People tell me it is impossible, but I look at the photo and believe there is hidden history here.
