This is extremely interesting to me, as I believe many of our young brothers and sisters know very little about the meshing between our African ancestors and European nobility and royalty.

I had actually begun writing a book where an African American woman marries into the European nobility (though I blurred the racial lines and even had instances where she was not the first to marry into this royal family)... not realizing at the time that this had already occurred.

It validates the subject matter of my book (though fiction) and I am happy about that.

Given that many of us (young women) grew up listening to the same Eurocentric fairytales that our non-African American counterparts did, it's no wonder that we all have a fascination with European royalty and the whole "Cinderella" phenomenon.
