Princess Angela of Leichtenstein

Hello Afrigeneas Family:

I'm always surprised by the interest of people of African descent in Europe about the nobility and royal families. The marriage of Princess Angela to Prince Maximilian has heightened their interest.

So if your surname is Brown and you have roots in Panama, you may be related to Princess Angela. The below URL announcing the wedding of Angela Brown to Prince Maximilian of Liechtenstein may be old news but I thought you would be interested in reading about their marriage.

Listed on one of the Royalty sites is the announcement of the birth of their son in 2002:

Princess Angela is not the first woman of African descent who married into the Royal Houses of Europe. PBS's documentary on Blurred Racial Lines (also found on Afrigeneas) lists Queen Charlotte who married the English King George III (1738-1820). Also mentioned was Giulia de' Medici, in her own right, a member of the powerful Italian rulers. Her father, Alessandro de Medici, offspring of a black servant and Pope Clement VII, was the powerful Duke of Florence.

The descendents of the great Russian writer Pushkin, married into the Romanov's and in turn married into the Royal Family of England.

I hope you enjoy reading about Princess Angela and the European men and women of color who came before her.
