Hi,
I am researching my ancestors and found that the Adkins in my family tree may not have been white but mulatto.
I didn't know what mulatto meant, but our family may be biracial. We had been told we were part Cherokee but now I think the whites in our family wanted to hide that we were part black. We all look white but have some black features here and there.
The Adkins we are from lived in West Virginia and then came to Ohio. Before West Va they lived in Virginia and before Va it was North Carolina.
My grandmother was Ermal Adkins and her mother was Rosa Adkins and Rosa's husband was George Homer Adkins.
Other names
are America Adkins, Easter Adkins and Wesley Adkins and William Adkins.
Good luck in your search.
Cindy
