In this case - it is oral family history that "John Manuel" bought his identity from some seaman on a ship - in order to get into the US.

My question now is what ship - which seaman - and how to track him back to India or if not India - the Phillipines (unless he made up the Phillipines). Probably hopeless, but then I like challenges
