Re: The Danger In Taking A DNA Test

Wow! I start with a quote:

'Careful with that axe, Eugene' (Pink Floyd, 1969)

A $600.00 whim to have a test tell you that you are not what you've ate for over fifty years. Whew!

Not a single drop of black blood, but the test still left him with the conceptual label of *ni**er*. Please note I stated conceptual.

Joseph shouldn't trip with the unimpeachable honesty of a lifelong experience of being black - unless he wants to be Governor of California or be placed on Ward Connerly's A-list. Sorry (Oakland in da house!)

Everyday, I wrestle with my dark brown skin, that there is no ambiguity or mistaking what I am - even if a (now $300.00) DNA test says I'm 57% Bjork, 39% Robert Mirabal, and 4% Yo Yo Ma - that I am BLACK! Sorry (descendent of John R. Jeter, slave, Virginia).

Methinks that Joseph should quit wrestling with this riddle and seek some insight from his black [Some men in the family routinely courted black women] ex-wife; or at least, let her share her side of the logical and visceral story.

Tongue flapping way way out of control in cheek.
