I am seeking information on Daniel Fredison(African American) and his wife Elizabeth(from Mauritius). Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com provided three hits regarding his life in British Columbia. Fredison arrived in Hawaii around 1850, became a naturalized citizen of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1856. He was listed as a partner in an interisland schooner in 1856. In 1859 I find him listed as a passenger in steerage on a ship bound for British Columbia. He received land grants in B.C. and became a successful farmer, never to return to Hawaii. He indicated on his naturalization papers for Hawaii that he was a citizen of the USA. I would like to know what state he came from, was he a Free Black, occupation and what brought him to Hawaii. Thanks in advance if there is anyone who knows anything about Daniel Fredison.
