This is the first film telling the story of the African American presence in Hawaii. "Holding Fast the Dream: Hawaii's African American Experience" discusses the remarkable story of the contributions and successes of the small community of African Americans who came to Hawaii over 200 years ago.Executive producer Miles M. Jackson and award winning filmmaker Steve Okino took four years to make the one hour independent film that covers the subject objectively and honestly. The premier screening will be during the Hawaii International Film Festival on October 23, 2010 in Honolulu at the Dole theater.
