Does anyone have a good source for researching wagon trains that went to California during the period of 1850-1870?

I have a 2nd great grandfather who our family oral history states went to California driving a wagon in a wagon train. We have placed this ancestor in Sacramento, California thru Sacramento City Directories (1861 & 1868), Newspaper articles (1871) and his burial record in 1871 in the New Helvetia Cemetery, Sacramento, CA.

His occupation in the 1870 Census for Sacramento County, CA has him listed as a wagon driver.
