I forgot to add something on the other post. When I mentioned family resources it reminded me of an issue involving a 19th century female author who had a mistaken racial identity by scholars. As it turned out no one talked to the family members.
The authors names was Emma Dunham Kelley-Hawkins. I'm including a few links which you may find interesting.
