The good thing about those people that made those unfortunate oversights is that they cared enough to write about people and events that were important to them as best they could. Family descendants like yourself are usually the best sources, (embellishments excepted),but organizations like the National Park Service aren't likely to get the opportunity to interview family members on every historical locale or event they recognize, they depend on institutional sources like universities and libraries.
The most important thing is that you corrected the information and I thank you for providing a more accurate source. Would you be willing to post the names of the children?
