As you are undoubtedly aware, there are many errors regarding my great great grandfather, Alvin Aaron Coffey, made by both Delilah Beasley and Sue Bailey Thurman. Both of them allude to the fact that Alvin and Mahala Coffey had just two daughters when he purchased his freedom. This is untrue. Not only did Alvin and Mahala have two daughters at the time of his Emancipation, they also had three living sons. In all, Alvin and Mahala Coffey had nine children. In the future, I would appreciate a more thorough investigation into the facts before making statements that are untrue and that can be easily disproven.
