African American Blacks Help Settle Autralia

Dear Readers,

My apolgies for the error in the subject previously regarding Black Sailors in the Pacific.

I have come across a new book entitled, "Black Founders: The Unknown Story of Australia's First Settlers by Cassandra Pybus, Professor and Researcher at Tasmania University. One reviewer states that " Black Founders changes the way we think about Australia." It seems that during the American Revolutionary War escaped American slaves sought freedom with the British and fought for the British army. They were taken to England and found themselves abandoned and unemployed in England once the war was over. At the time England was settling Australia with convicts who were convicted for little or nothing. The author cites several examples of the dozens of American Blacks who settled in Australia when she discuss "Black Caesar",who became a famous bushranger and also John Randall and John Martin. Randall's oldest daughter married John Martin's son and they had fourteen children. Their descendants, black on both sides, now number 25,000.
Pybus stated that " I guess there's lots of people descended from the Randall-Martins who don't know that yet.The Pybus book shows just how important the American Revolutionary War and former African American slaves are tied to Australia's history. Thanks for reading.
