Regarding section two of "Blacks In The Un-Black West," about the town of Julian, California near San Diego, I was forwarded a message from David Lewis of Julian and thought readers would like to know that a recognition of the towns Black pioneers was planned for Black History Month(February). The edited message follows, Allen:
"Sunday, January 1, 2006 9:54 PM
I am the historian for the Julian Cemetery. Allen wrote about the Julian Hotel and that it was started by Albert and Margaret Robinson. Sunday Feb. 5 at 2:00pm, the first week of Black History Month, Julian will be honoring the Black pioneers of Julian. New grave markers will be unveiled on the graves of Albert Robinson, America Newton and Susan Tull. A bronze plaque will be placed at the Museum honoring the Black pioneers. A reception will follow.
