Again I am honored, as I am sure the Afrigeneas site is, of your recognition of my article. I was aware of the African Relief Society in Honolulu but not of the "Allen's" place parade in 1832. All of the information in your second post is new knowledge for me. The link between this African descent population and the settling of the American West, as you are able to demonstrate in your timeframes, is one that I feel is under-studied, yet very important. Your research helps us understand a Black sea-faring migration history which deserves attention equal to, The Middle Passage, The Underground Railroad, and The Exodusters. Thanks again,
