Thanks for your Black sailor stories. Perhaps you have heard of the "African Relief Society" in Honolulu sometime in the late 1820s and mid 1830s. Marc Scruggs mentions in his chapter in Jackson's "They Followed the Trade Winds" that " Allen's place was the site for"a great parade... of the African Relief Society' in 1832. There were enough sailors of African descent in Honolulu
