Where were Mortimer Minkler & wife in 1840?

Could we not assume if they were still in New York, having a family servent born in Mass. might not be extreme.

If Charles Minkler(B) was the son of a family servant who moved west to Illinois with them it would have been a simple kindness for them to keep him in the family if his mother passed away.
