Good grief! I have followed this thread from beginning to end and watched you supposed experts tearing apart the legend (not myth) of the Piatt's involvement in the UGRR. I understand the importance of documentation but simply because aged documentation is not available does not mean something is not true.
While you cite a conflict with the Piatt's original pro-slavery stance, there is nothing to doubt that they had a change of heart (read up on Thomas Jefferson, for example).
Also, you cite that Sambo statues did not appear in quantity until after the Civil War, you also cite that the legend began in G.Washington's time. Might not a family like the Piatts have had one before they were mass produced?
I am more likely to believe the story handed down by the Piatts than to trust your flawed research.
